C4C has unveiled The Shepherd, a captivating folk-hop beat tape that merges experimental folk-pop with psychedelic, dreamlike sounds. The project weaves a meandering, melodic tone—folky yet fluid, melodic yet bold—that takes listeners on an immersive journey. With its distinctive and timeless atmosphere, The Shepherd offers an easy, almost hypnotic listening experience, setting itself apart with a unique and unmistakable sound.
Jesse Aymon Dettwiler, better known as C4C, is a multi-instrumentalist composer and music producer from Switzerland, widely recognized as the pioneer of Folk-Hop. Blending distinctive folk elements with the laid-back grooves of hip-hop, C4C crafts soothing, organic instrumentals that defy easy categorization.
Born in Lens, northern France, on December 13, 1997, to an Australian mother and Swiss German father, Dettwiler draws from a rich cultural background. After completing ten years of music education, he began recording music in May 2013, driven by his ambition to one day work as a sound engineer. Over the years, his creative output has spanned an impressive range of genres, including indie folk, hip-hop, classical, jazz, reggae, opera, ambient, trap bass, and electro house.
By late 2018, following the release of over 200 projects on Bandcamp, Dettwiler honed his focus and coined the term Folk-Hop to describe the fusion of his favorite styles. His innovative approach quickly drew attention within the music community, leading to collaborations with prominent platforms like Chill Select, Lofi Girl, Hip Dozer, and Chillhop Music, and amassing over 150 million streams worldwide.
On June 10, 2020, C4C self-released his debut album, Folk-Hop Vol. 1, the first installment of a trilogy that showcases his signature sound. He currently resides in the Swiss countryside, where he continues to push the boundaries of genre and sound.
